Summer learning experiences for children with special needs

The Detroit Institute for Children is proud to present SLIDE, Summer Learning Individualized Developmental Experiences, our summer learning program for children with special needs. SLIDE will give children with special needs an opportunity to receive crucial therapies and prevent learning loss over the summer months.

We have two program locations. The locations will be announced soon, and the program is provided at NO COST to families. To qualify, a child must be 3-12 years old as of July 9 and have an IEP through their school. The primary therapies being delivered will be speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and special education. Please contact us to be added to our program email list if you wish to be alerted when the enrollment submission period opens.

We need volunteers! Anyone 18 or older can volunteer with these programs, and it is a great opportunity especially for students studying disciplines related to education, therapy and special needs. Please contact us for further details.
